Peter J. Karaba, engineer for Centerior The Plain Dealer; Cleveland, Ohio; Jul 12, 1991; Peter J. Karaba was director of transmission and distribution engineering for Centerior Energy, the parent company of the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co.
Mr. Karaba, 46, died Wednesday at Southwest General Hospital. He had cancer.
He joined CEI as an engineering aide after he graduated from Benedictine High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a master's degree in civil engineering while working full time.
He also earned a certificate from the Power Systems Engineering program at General Electric Co. headquarters in Schenectady, N.Y.
His most recent assignment placed him in charge of the design and planning for all overhead and underground wires and substations that CEI has in Greater Cleveland, as well as those in the service area it co-owns with Toledo Edison.
He was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, where he coached football, basketball and softball. His teams won many championships, but he emphasized development and teamwork as the team's most important goals.
He also particiapted in the Christian Family Movement at the church.
Surviving are his wife, Joanne; sons, Peter Jr. and Brian; a daughter, Sandra; and a brother.
Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow (SATURDAY) at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 14865 Bagley Rd., Middleburg Heights.

OBIT: Wilma B. Beall, 78, has gone to be with her late husband, Arthur, in heaven with the Lord on July 30, 2002.

OBIT: Born in Cleveland, Mrs. Beall lived most of her life in the Akron area. As a pastor's wife, Wilma was very supportive in her husband's work in the ministry. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Women's Missionary League and Double Nickles. She also served as a volunteer at St. Luke Community Home.

she was 9 years old when her father died at Derry, and it is believed that her mother reutrned her former home at Haverhill, Mass. with the children. That is probably why it has not been determined where their wedding took place.

Harrison Carr remembers his grandmother: "the brave beauty and wit, Sallie Kast." She was so beloved that her name is still passed through her descendants.
