40 1867 27 Jan Francis wrote a lettter to his mother from South Haven, MI, in which he said he now owned a team and a wagon.
29-3 1870 11 Jun Francis M. Poe married Josephine Brown in the Congregational Church at Lafayette, Medina County, Ohio.

29-3 1890 11 Jun Francis, disabled by diarrhea and rheumatism, applied for a disability pension. He was living at Medford, Jackson Co., OR. He was 46 and he was 5'91/2", had brown hair and blue eyes.
1890 22 Jul Francis filed a declaration alleging he had permanent disability from chronic diarrhea, lung trouble and rheumatism caused by measles while in the service.
1891 06 May His endorsement claims he had measles and a relapse from the measles while at Camp Randall in March of 1864. He also had lung and bowel trouble at that time. He was living
at Medford, OR, when he made the endorsement. His description was age 47, 5'8", 180#.
1891 21 Jul His application was approved, a disability pension because of chronic diarrhea and rheumatism, $8 per month commencing 22 Jul 1890.
1891 04 Dec A declaration was made by Francis - he was 47 and resided at Medford, Jackson Co., OR; Complexion was fair and his eyes were light blue. In March of 1864, he contracted measles and also diarrhea. In July of 1865, he contracted rheumatism from exposure at Camp Randall.

29-3 1894 13 Mar Declaration - Francis was 49 and lived in Medford, OR. He was 5'91/2, had a fair complexion, brown hair and blue eyes. he was drawing $8 per month. He was suffering from chronic diarrhea, catarrh of the head and throat, and the piles. He wished to increase his pension.
1897 16 Sep From a service records exerpt: Rolls show that Francis had been AWOL
from 4 May 1864 until 30 Jun 1864. The rolls on 31 Aug 1864 showed him still AWOL. He returned to his company from Wisconsin where he had been sick.
1897 06 Oct Statement that Francis still received $8 per month. He was age 52 and was 5'8", 173#.
1898 20 Jun Francis' pension was increased to $10 per month.
1899 22 Nov Francis Marion Poe died at Medford, Jackson, OR. He was almost 55 years of age.

20-2 1832 07 Mar Orlando M. Poe was born in Bethlehem T., Stark Co., OH.
1856 He graduated military academy at West Point.
1860 He was promoted to 1LT and was on a lake survey when the Civil War began. He assisted in the organization of the OH volunteers and then served on Gen. George McClellan's staff at Rich Mountain.
1861 17 Jun Orlando Metcalfe Poe married Eleanor Carroll Brent at Detroit, MI.
1861 Sep Orlando Poe was promoted to COL, 2nd Regt., MI Volunteers. They assisted in the defence of Washington, D. C. and then participated in the Peninsular Campaign.
1862 29 Nov He was appointed BRIG GEN of Volunteers. He was at the Battle of Fredericksburg.
1863 Mar He became CAPT of Engineers.
1863 He commanded a Division of the 9th Army Corps. He became Chief Engineer of the Army of the Ohio. (He had a similar post under General W. T. Sherman during the invasion of Georgia and the march to the sea.
04 Dec Charles Carroll Poe was born in Perry T., Stark Co., OH.
1864 06 Jul Orlando was brevetted MAJ for gallant service at the seige of Knoxville.
01 Sep He was brevetted LTC for the capture of Atlanta.
01 Dec He was brevetted COL for the capture of Savannah.
1865 He was brevetted BRIG GEN for gallant and meritorious service in the campaign terminating in the capture of the insurgent army under GEN Joseph E. Johnston.
1865 Orlando was Engineer Secretary of the Lighthouse Board until 1870.
1866 09 Dec Winifred Lee Poe was born in Washington, D. C.
1870 He was commissioned MAJ. He supervised construction of the lighthouse on Spectacle Reef until 1873.
1873 He was Aide De Camp to GEN Sherman until 1884.
22 Jul Elizabeth Comstock Poe was born in Washington, D. C.
1876 10 Dec Orlando Warner Poe was born in Washington, D. C.
1882 He was commissioned LTC of the Engineers.
1888 He was commissioned COL.
1895 02 Oct Orlando M. Poe died at Detroit, MI, of injuries sustained during a routine inspection. He left his pedigree when he died. 20-2 also has Orlando dying in Washington, D. C. but this is probably not accurate.
43-4 1938 In his letter, Carroll C. FitzHugh mentioned CPT Thomas Ludwell Brent.

42-1 1862 10 Dec Sarah, wife of M. Hartle, died 10 Dec 1862, age 82. She was interred in the Tymochtee Cemetery (formerly the Terry Heckathorn Cemetery). Betty has the Sarah (Poe) Hartle epitaph that ws sent to her in 1975 by Elizabeth Van Sickle. Elizabeth identified herself as the granddaughter of Socrates Hartle, son of Sarah.
1-1 Sarah had children but the records were burned.
??? 1940 Pearl Royer of Ravenna (that must be the one in Stark Co. OH) has both Hartle lines from both Sarah and Mary Poe.Sarah may have been called Sally too, or Sally may have been a sister.

16-2 1889 This article gave 1889 as Sarah (Poe) Kuffle's DOD. It did list all 12 of her children in their correct order.
16-2 1939 Sally (Poe) Kuffle claimed that Adam Poe was married twice. He had, by his first marriage in PA, one daughter born. His daughter by his first marriage was Barbara who married a Mr. Cochran of PA. Adam's second marriage was to Betsey Matthews, widow of William Cochran. Betsey was an immigrant from Ireland. She came to this country when she was 12, the sister of a Presbyterian minister named William Matthews. Sally claimed that his brother, Andrew, born 1742, was six years older than Adam.
