In Memory of Murriel T. Spicer
Murriel (Murt to her family and friends) was born July 11, 1925 to John Thomas and Josie Lenora Pugh in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. She was the second girl in a family of six children. In her early years she enjoyed riding bikes, camping, but always focusing on school. In early adulthood she learned to tap dance and sing but always managed to find time to go shopping with her girlfriends. Even with her other interests her love of studying paid off when she completed her education in business. Murriel met her lifelong love, Bryan M. Spicer, when she was thirteen, growing up as friends, becoming sweethearts, and later husband and wife on August 29, 1943. Murriel was always happiest when with her eight children, singing, dancing, and organizing feasts for regularly occurring family gatherings. Her favorite memory was her 50th wedding anniversary where she was able to once again be with all of those she held so dear. Somehow Murriel managed a household of children and an active career. She spent many years as a secretary and bookkeeper. Once retired, her love for the outdoors led her to the Wenatchee Forest District where she was a Park Host Volunteer, again giving of herself, helping wherever she could. Murriel enjoyed her retirement, traveling across the country in a motor home, organizing her lifelong collection of poetry, family pictures, rock collections, and endless new crafts. Murriel was preceded in death by her son Thomas Spicer, her brothers Mike, Shorty, and Patrick, and her sister Opal. She is survived by her joyously large family, Bryan, her husband, Jack, her brother; her children, Bryan (Monty), Sheryl, Sharyn, Greg, Ron, Tim, and Brad, 19 Grandchildren, and 30 Great Grandchildren. Special thanks to the many who cared for Murriel, particularly her Husband Bryan, son Bradley, Kimberly and Crystal of the local COPES program.
Services will be held Saturday at 4:00 PM at the Richland Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Gifts in Murriel’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 1700, Chicago Illinois 60601-7633.
Answered Prayer
If you rise from prayer forgiven and clean inside, prayer has been answered.
If you rise more conscious of God’s greatness, goodness, mercy, love, and nearness, prayer has been answered.
If you rise with greater love and compassion for other people, answered prayer is transforming your selfish nature.
If you rise with an abiding sense of peace in spite of the great problems that beset your life, God has answered by preparing you to confront these difficulties.
If you rise with clearer vision, greater purpose, a more positive outlook, renewed strength, and fresh inspiration, rest assured that your prayer has been answered.
