24170 SOURCE: was listed as a passenger on the ship, "George Washington" out of Bremen, Germany for 28 May 1911. Home listed as Fibraken (cannot find on the map - upon further consideration, this is probably Zebrakov), birth place as Zebrakov. Her passage was paid by her Brother-in-law, Bede Zima of 3179 Broadway Ave., Cleveland, Ohio. The ship manifest shows her father's name but it is hard to read - could be Hynek. Occupation listed as "maid". Description as 5' 3", blonde hair, blue eyes. The name on the manifest appears to be Gissfina but might be Gustina.

Beatrice Marie Rozhon Culpepper, born August 1909 in Cicero, IL, is the widow of Abner A. Culpepper. She lived with her husband and three sons in and around Western Springs, IL for forty years before moving to Virginia in 1967. In 1991, she and Abner moved to Titusville, FL where she is still a resident and continues to greet family and friends. The photograph was taken in 1925 after her first permanent. (Submitted by her son, Richard A. Culpepper. )

CENSUS: The 1930 census shows a Beatrice Rozhon (b 1909) as a boarder at 1934 Gunderson Ave., Chicago, Illinois. Also listed at the same address was Antoinette Rozhon (b. 1903). Both claim to have been born in Illinois. . They were living at the Van Briggle family residence (unknown why or if there was any relationship with the wife of the household "Emily - age 35". Since they aren't listed as sister-in-laws, they are probably not related to the family they lived with, but why would a family take in these two girls in their 20's?

Message: My paternal grandmother was Beatrix Rozhon, born in Chicago (ca. 1915), lived in Berwyn and Cicero (Cook County, IL), and died in Berwyn (ca. 1983). Her parents were Bohemian immigrants, but I do not know much more than that. Hope this helps. Also, do you know if Rozhon is a Bohemian version of the Jewish name "Rosen"?

24190 Found this family on a ship manifest for the Kronprinz Wilhelm which arrived in NYC on 15 Oct 1902 (sailing from Bremen). The family was listed in the EIDB (Ellis Island Data Base) as ROZTRON but is obviously ROZHON when you look at the actual handwriting on the page. The family's last residence is listed as "Blatna". They were on their way to J. Kuskova, 464 W. 18th (Alport) in Chicago, Illinois and were travelling with a sister-in-law, Antonie Kuskova (28 yrs old). J. Kuskova is probably Antonie's husband and the surname probably doesn't end in 'ova' since that is the feminine version. More likely, the name is Kuskov or Kuska. Karel was listed as 31 yrs., Marie as 26 yrs., Marie (daughter) as 2 yrs., and Antonie.
Image of the ship manifest is onfile as Rozhon_Karel_1902_Chicago.gif

RESIDENCES:
1910 - 1441 W 51st Street (census shows it as So. 51st)
By the 1910 Federal Census, he is now married to Antonie (Antoinette), his sister-in-law, married for only 2 years. Last two children (Bozena and Anthony) are with this wife.
1920 - 1216 S. 50th Street, Chicago (per 1920 census)
1922 - 2709 S 58th Court, Cicero (per his wife, Antonie's obituary)
1930 - Chicago State Hospital (per census)
1936 - 160 Burlington Ave.

By the 1930 Federal Census, Charles is confined to the Chicago State Hospital (Insane Asylum) - occupation listed as Butcher.

OCCUPATION: Butcher

RELATIONSHIP_ESTABLISHED_BY: Charles having his name mention as the son of Antonin in Antonin's obituary.
Charles (Karel) ROZHON

24191 I question the March 1926 date of death for Charles that I obtained on the Baley website:
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/b/a/l/George-J-Baley-LA-PORTE/BOOK-0001/0006-0022.html#IND1250REF46
The reason I question this date is that his father died in 1939 and the obituary lists Charles (who was probably living) and omitted James (whom I know was deceased).
Charles' wife, however, DID die in March 1926. Also, his wife, Olga, is listed as having a surname of "Newburg" on the Baley site but her obituary clearly lists her parents as Emil and Olga Staninger. Also, because of her young age at death, it's unlikely Newburg is her married name prior to marrying Charles.

RESIDENCES:
