A List of Polls and of the Estates Province Laws, 1771, Chapter 3 describes this list as "containing an account of all male polls, of sixteen years old and upwards, whether at home or abroad, distinguishing such as are exempt from rates; and of all rateable estate, both real and personal, lying within or adjacent to their respoective towns and districts, and by whom occupied . . . and of all Indian, negro or molatto servants forlife, from fourteen to forth-five years of age; . . . and also of all horses,oxen, goats, sheep and swine, at the respective ages in said list.
