CLAIMED 73 YEARS OLD
Found your John Yerington in jail-he was judged"insame and distracted"
in about March 20,1860,tried to drown himself, and there was a document
that had Jas.M. Jasbor(sp?) as guardian with about 15 other signers. From
reading it said he needed to be kept somewhere as no one could take care
of him and since there were no other safe facilities at the time(think
only hospital was in Muscatine at this time),the only place was the
jail(how sad for him)His possessions were appraised ,not much, and then
later papers Jas.M Jasbor was guardian and had bills for wood, shoes, 3
dozen eggs, flour, sugar, potatoes 1 lb. of candles, matches, salt, 6 yds
of Print-hooks and eyes, thread etc. John apparently had pension papers
and a land warrant also .It sounded like this Jas M,,think he lived in
Muscatine, was taking care of and providing for the rest of the family.
I found a marriage of John Yarrington to Sarah Powell Bk D Page 163, June
6, 1858,think both were age 21??.Is this your John..?
The librarian at Tipton,Linda Dykstra, said her mother was acquainted with
the Yerrington family and her name is Marie Shaull, phone 319 886-2032.I
had other material written down(about 6 pages) and will mail if you send
s-mail address.Thought you would like to know this ahead. The court
documents had about 6-8 small pages.Probate # 352.Apparently there are
WITMER related to the Yerington??from a lady at the library.
On various pension papers
On 04/28/1859 he claimed to be 46 years old
On 03/27/1879 he claimed to be 68 years old
On 04/06/1885 he claimed to be 74 years old | John Daniel YERINGTON
