 1. David was named after father Adam's best friend, Col. David Williamson, father's associate in Indian wars. Had flour mills in Brooklyn Center, Cuyahoga Co., OH. Went to Nebraska to locate more mill sites. Was returned to Brooklyn Center for burial. David W. Poe was a Justice of the Peace in Medina County at one time. 9 1843 David W. Poe moved to Cleveland where he opened a tavern east of Brooklyn near the Brighton Bridge. Died with his son David Jackson Poe in a blizzard on the prairie. Died from exposure after snowstorm.

 2. One source lists birth year as 1789 and another 1799; 1850 census lists DW Poe as 50, so I will use 1799.

 3. Residences: New Lisbon, Columbiana Co., Ohio; Brooklyn, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio

 4. - 1819 26 Aug IGI-OH- has David W. Poe marry Mary Ann Nead on this date. The entry is a document.
 - 1833 DOCU-514 - Ephilet & Sibble Austin of Austinburg, Ashtabula Co., OH, granted to David W. Poe of (left blank) Lot 1, 16th Range, Western Reserve - Harrisville.
-1834 27 oct DOCU-353 - Joseph & Sarah Battell of Norfolk, Litchfield Co., CT, granted to David W. Poe of Harrisville, Medina Co., OH, the west part of Lot#81, 61 24/100 acres, Harrisville.

Poe of (left blank) Lot #1, 16th Range, Western Reserve, known as par of Lot 113, 124 94/100 acres; David & Mary Ann Poe of Harrisville, Medina Co., OH, granted to James Klack of Harrisville, #1, 16th Range, Western Reserve, part of ....
-1841 13 Dec DOCU-T-360 to 363 - David W. & Mary Ann Poe purchased 100 acres from Christopher & Sophrana Whiting. They then sold the land to Isaac Poe. They later sold the land to John Poe. (Did Isaac back out on the purchase?)
 - 1856 Joseph Poe wrote home about an article he read in the Galena, IL, newspaper about the deaths of David Williamson Poe and David Jackson Poe. They were caught in
a blizzard while searching for a homestead near Nebraska City, Otoe Co., NE. Their arms and legs were frozen and they died when these were amputated. Adam Poe, who was in Nebraska City at the time, also wrote home about their deaths.
-1857 09 Apr These DOD on the tombstones of David Williamson Poe and David Jackson Poe in the Brookmere Cemetery at Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio are incorrect. This is likely the dates their bodies were buried.

( LCW - I suspect David was the son of Jacob and Catharine (Poe) Matthews. The other surnames aren't familiar and aren't in my index at this time. I would guess they are either boarders or servants at the tavern.
