- When a small boy, his parents moved to Illinois. He remained there until
 
theirdeath, and at the age of 14 returned to Ohio. He resided on Elm 
Valley road in Brown Township in Delaware County. 
After the death of Nettie, his wife, he moved in with his brother Richard. 
He was a farmer and stockman. He and Richardhad a band, consisting of a 
fife, bass drum, and snare drum, and they playedat various events. They 
were active in the Democratic Party of Delaware County
