Named for:

The deceased young daughter, Gertrude (Gertie), of property owner/developer, Leonard G. Foster. Gertrude was only about 10 years old when she died around 1884. That year marked the point when Leonard began selling off parts of his property holdings.


History:

In 1965, the State of Ohio bought all properties along the east side of West 15th Street. Shortly thereafter, all the houses were demolished. This part of the street was then eliminated by the Jennings Freeway.
