43-4 1938 Charles FitzHugh was a professional genealogist. His address was 4211-49th Street N.W., Washington, DC. Other than Elizabeth Comstock (Poe) FitzHugh, Charles was the only other living descendant of Orlando M. Poe. (Did he and his wife have children after 1938?)
Orlando M. Poe was opposed to family investigation. Charles said that family tradition had the POEs originating in Ireland, a story that a shipwrecked Spaniard left a legacy in the blue-gray eyes and heavy dark brows of this family's POE descendants. Charles had a great deal of material about the POEs. Charles claimed that George Jacob Poe had a brother, John, who went to North Carolina.
LCW This appears to be a very good source of information. Check for POE papers in the Llibrary of Congress Archives, in newspapers, in cosmopolitan articles, letters and clippings.
