  1. Isaac HINCKLEY b. Abt 27 Mar 1726, Truro, Barnstable County, Massachusetts; d. 24 Jul 1751, New Meadows, Cumberland County, Maine.

    FAMILY: From p. 370 of old Book 1 of the Brunswick Vital Records, births
    of Isaac & Agnis Hinkly's daughter: Mehetabal.

    NOTES: According to Charles N Sinnett's book, "Ancestor Samuel Hinckley
    and Descendants," (his sources being the "History of Barnstable, Mass," as
    well as from Hinckley descedants) on p. 27 he states: 'In July 1751, the
    Indians came upon a party of seven settlers, who were making their hay at
    New Meadows, near Brunswick Maine. Discovering that these men were
    quite a distance from their guns, the savages ran and cut off theirretreat.
    These men were Edmond Hinckley, with his brothers, Isaac and Gideon;
    Deacon Samuel Whitney and his son, Samuel; Hezekiah Purington; and
    Samuel Lumbers (Lombard). Isaac Hinckley was killed and the rest of the
    men were taken prisoners, and carried to Canada, where they suffered
    many hardships, but were finally exchanged.'
    From Cumberland County Maine Registry of Deeds, Book 2, page 34,
    'Samuel Hinckley of Brunswick, Maine, in the County of Cumberland, and the
    Province of Massachusetts Bay, in New England, yeoman, for 20 shillings
    paid by Agnes Hinckley, widow of my beloved son, Isaac Hinckley, deceased;
    in behalf of Mehitable Hinckley, only daughter of said Isaac Hinckley andwife
    Agnes, land bounded southwest by Aaron Hinckley; northeast by James
    Thompson; southeast by the New Meadows Riber, containing 100 acres.
    Grantors, wife Mary. 16 Mar 1751. Witnesses, Samuel Hinckley, Isaac
    HInckley, Mehetable Hinckley, William Hinckley, Cornelius Thompson (who
    made his mark), Ann Thompson, and John Thompson.'
