IN MEMORIAM
Mrs. Samuel Fish departed to a higher life from her home in Milan, Ohio, Dec.3rd, aged 68 years, 1 month and 15 days. She was born in the town of Marcellas, NY, Oct. 18, 1824. She married Samuel Fish, Feb 20, 1844 and lived in the state of New York until 1864 when they moved to Milan, Ohio, where they have since resided. In 1850 she joined the church and became an active member. Some years after she with her characteristic benevolence adopted a little girl, who was a cripple and friendless. In 1858 this girl became susceptible to spirit control and such were the wonderful messages given from departed friends that Mrs. Fish became convinced of its truthfulness and has ever since been a firm believer with increasing faith, and what is more, she carried the highest precepts of the spiritual philosophy into her daily life, and would often say that spiritualism was not only good enough to live by, but splendid to die by, ever hoping that she would not outlive her usefulness. She was a warm and affectionate friend, ready to make any sacrifice and few knew of her constant charities and her unwearying efforts to assist those dependent on her. Mr. and Mrs. Fish have had five children, four of whom are living, and one in the higher life.The daughter, Dora, had just left for Kansas on a visit to her sister Carrie, and the death of their mother was so sudden neither could attend. Celinda, the remaining daughter, and Albert, their son, together with their father, were the only near relatives that could be present at the funeral, which was one of the largest ever held in East Milan, and there were the most profound expressions of regret and sympathy. Rev. Felt, of Norwalk, officiated with words of great praise for the belief that could inspire so noble a life and that it might not be weakened in the members of the family that are left to earth.

Obituary take from "the Firelands Pioneer", page 2450, January 1920:
Fish, Albert M., who was for several years Vice Presidnet of the Firelands Historical Society, died at his home in Milan August 11, 1919, aged 72 years, 9 months and 6 days, after an illness of several months. He was born in Otisco, New York, November 5, 1846, the son of Samuel and Sallie (Crosby) Fish, and came to the Firelands in 1864, settling in Milan. He married Emily Graves, of Milan, in 1872. He was survived by three sons, Roy, Fred and Carl Fish. He was a widely known and unfluential citizen whose death was a distinct loss to the community. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H. C. Cunningham and the burial was in the Milan Cemetery.

MILAN, O.,Aug. 12 - (Special) - Albert M. Fish, 72, passed away at his home, near here Monday evening at 5:45. He is survived by three sons, Carl of Los Angeles, Fred of Ames, IA, and Roy of Milan. His wife died eight years ago. He was a member of the Milan Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star lodge, and was a director of the Farmers & Citizens bank. He was well known for his philanthropy. Funeral services are to be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the residence.

MILAN MAN DIES AT HOME MONDAY
MILAN, Aug. 12 (Special) - Albert Fish died Monday afternoon at his late home in East Milan. He was one of the best known men of Milan and held a place of high esteem. Fish is survived by his three sons, Fred, Ames, IA., Carl, Los Angeles, Cal. and Roy, Milan; also two sisters, Mrs. S. N. Perry, Oskaloosa, Kansas, and Miss Salinda Fish (note different spelling for Celinda here) of Milan. The funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. H. C. Cunningham at the home on Thursday afternoon at ? o'clock. The Masons, of which order the decedent was a member, will have charge of the final services at the Milan cemetery.

Fish, Miss Celinda, the last member of the Samuel Fish family was born in Marcellus, N. Y., November 21, 1848 and passed away at her home in East Milan, March 10, 1927 at the age of 78 years, 3 months, and 17 days. When 17 years of age she, with her parents and brother Albert and sisters Dora and Carrie, moved to Milan where she resided for the remainder of her life. The nearest relatives left to mourn her passing were eight nieces and nephews.

Miss Fish, 76, Died in Home Early Thursday
MILAN, March 10 - (Special) - Arrangements for the funeral of Miss Celinda Fish, 76, who died in her home in E. Milan early today will be delayed pending the arrival of relatives from distant points, it was decided today.
Miss Fish, who came to this locality from New York State at the age of 16 years, leaves four nieces and four nephews. She was the last member of her immediate family. She had resided in the same house during her entire residency here.

DEATH BY CHOKING WAS INFANT'S FATE
Piece From Bamboo Mat is Swallowed By Fish Child of Milan
MILAN, O., Dec. 10. - (Special) - Death by choking after swallowing a small piece from a bamboo mat was the fate meted out to the ten months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Fish, Thursday midnight. The infant, while playing, put the stuff in its mouth late in the afternoon. Drs. Gill of Norwalk were summoned and worked over the patient until recovery seemed reasonably sure. They left early in the evening. At midnight the infant passed away. Whether death was due in the presence of some of the bamboo in the mouth, or to the resulting irritation is not known. The Fish family is one of the best known and most prominent here. The infant is survived by the parents and a three year old daughter. Mrs. Fish is prostrated by her loss.

The funeral of little Robert Malcom Fish, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Fish, who died a tragic death by choking, Friday, was held at the Fish home west of Milan Sunday afternoon. Rev. H. C. Cunningham officiated. The services were tender and impressive, and truly appropriate to the memory of the pure little life thus rudely terminated. A feeling of genuine sympathy and sorrow was manifested among the assemblage of close friends and neighbors, who gathered to mingle their tears with those of the grief stricken parents. Following the ceremony at the home the remains were tenderly conveyed to the Milan cemetery where interment was made.
