    Notes:
    1934 graduate of U.S. Naval Academy, served as an officer of the USS
    Lexington which was sunk during the battle of the Coral Sea in 1942.
    Awarded the Navy Cross for his efforts in saving men from the stricken
    carrier. Retired asa Captain. Died January 21, 1992 and his ashes were
    strewn over the Coral Sea in the area where the USS Lexington was sunk.
