Notes:
There is some disagreement between two history books, and the family, asto his background. But he was born on the family farm near Euclid, PA,where his father, the 2nd Christopher lived and died. He was educated inlocal schools, then went to Grove City College and Jefferson MedicalCollege of the City of Philadelphia. One of the histories stated that hegraduated in 1881 - although naming the wrong college apparently. Hebegan his practice at West Sunbury, but after three to four years, removed to Farmington (now Eau Claire), where he remained for the balanceof his life. However, after the death of his first wife, he removed toNew Castle, PA, for two years or so. But they were very there andreturned to their old home at Eau Claire. He owned several properties inthat town, and a farm in Venango Township, Butler Co., which was occupiedfor a time by his son John and family. Dr. Michael is buried with hisfirst wife in the East Unity Church Cemetery, a few miles from town. After his death, his second wife went to live with a sister, and isburied with her. They were members of the United Presbyterian Church ofEau Claire.
Robert was married twice; for the first time on June 7, 1880, to MissMary Campbell, the daughter of James and Ann (Story) Campbell, by whomshe was the youngest of 9 children. Mry died on January 7, 1898, and Dr.McMichael was married for the 2nd time on April 9, 1902, to Miss Sara C.Allen. She died on February 21, 1925. There were 9 children by the firstmarriage, none by the second.

Notes:
He was a tall man. Leta has a picture or two of him and his new bride
As per Leta, her dad had done various types of work to support thefamily. It must have been hard to support the 5 children. He worked longand hard for them. Leta said they were poor but didn't know it at thetime.
Her dad was a farmer, had his own crops. He dug coal from the familiesland and sold it locally. He took it out by hand. She said he had a timegetting the payment from some, their was one individual who would onlypay when it was time to buy more from her father. He owned at varioustimes 2 threshing machines. Her dad name the first one "John" and thesecond one "Jim." They were steam driven, like train engine powered.Actually they were called engines. He stopped using the first one, shedoesn't remember why, and drove it into an area of the farm and left itthere. Leta said it would probably be worth something now as anantique. She is correct again.
Thrashing was a big project, it would involve the male children andneighbors. Her dad probably sold his services with the Thrasher forcash. She didn't remember him bringing anything else home. He may nothave made much of a profit from this. Her brother Jo would usually help, his job was to keep the steam up.
He raised a few sheep for wool and lambs for extra money.
They had a few cows, and chickens for butter and eggs. Her mother wouldsell butter and eggs for her own little spending money.

She was a School teacher. She had no children. I met her several times.
Moved from her 2 story house to the Congegrational Retirement Center(apartments) on West Liberty Ave. She had 2 operations in 1982 and 1983to remove some intestinal length with Diveticula. She had severalepisodes of intestinal blockage. On January 10 she became acutely ill,and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. She received IV feedings andcontinued to worsen for several days. She died in the hospital, Louie hadbeen there all day but had went home several hours earlier. She was 89and 5 months. From a letter of Aleta.
Jo said that "Thelma took her under her wing." She said she really feltclose to her probably for that same reason.

Notes:
This inquiry into the Descendants of Christopher McMichael , was begun when a letter dated October 7. 1956, to a Mr. Robert McMichael inCleveland, OH, was referred by him to his sister, Miss Aleta McMichael of261 Watson Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA. It would appear that she, by common consent, was already the family historian; and by far the major of the work in the compiling of this data has been done by her. She also provided names and addresses of other members of the family, whose contributions are listed in Series 4.
Leta says she has a picture of me as a baby, being held by her mother,Alice Martha Seaton, it was taken at the "old home." Ltr dated 1 Aug 95.I now have a copy of the picture.
Never married.
Worked for Westinghouse Company in 1928.
Worked in Washington, DC for a time, for the federal government. She worked for the Compensation Insurance Office, precursor of Social Security. She lived in Ranier, VA. She later worked for the Post Officein Pittsburgh. She was usually doing secretarial work at the post office, but occasionally sorted mail. If she did sort mail it was usually on a national holiday or during the holiday rush period, ie. , Christmas.
Retired some 26 years ago, 1969?
No children of this marriage and remains unmarried. She is our prime correspondent, and the one to whom most of the credit is due for thecompiling of this data. This per Series 4.
Leta remembers her father taking her down to an area next to a spring on the farm and kicking away some bushes to show her three corner stones of an old home. She doesn't remember who her father said had lived there. She has not shown the area to anyone and could not go to find it now. Who lived there? And where is it? She was a kid at the time. The home was located near the spring to get water easily, rather than have to dig awell.
Research:
Leta said she had contact with several persons looking for information offamily. The McMichael who gave her information on the Series 4 was aWilliam McMichael, no known relation. The last time she had contact withhim was over 15 years ago. He had a goal to know and note all theMcMichaels. He did the research on the first Christopher?
A brother of her Grand Dad had been researching.
She, brother and the wife came once. She died and the brother and the wife came a second time.
Something about a woman from a wealth family. There is a street in Pittsburgh named after the family who married into the McMichaels. Thestreet is in a wealthy neighborhood there.
California McMichael branch who changed the spelling because they thought MacMichael was the correct spelling.
Someone was with her when she discovered the will of the 1st Christopher at the Butler Co. Courthouse. That person wanted to take the will. Leta persuaded her to leave it. I wonder if it is still there?
She has a cousin on the second floor of the Home she lives in now. McKissick family I believe.
Leta led someone to a maiden aunt, McKissick ? and helped him get a stone for the grave, New York?
She had a surprise birthday party on her 90th. Denny and his wife, Debbieand her mother did it. Many people showed up, family and other residentsat the facility where she lives. Did she say she has lived there 7 years? The party was a total suprise, her first ever surprise party.
Leta said that she and a friend had stopped in SC to visit Ruth when thekids were in about 3rd to 4th grade and they had breakfast, would they remember that?
Someone a man and a women, a rather rotund women, stopped by the oldhouse, or where it used to be and met Jack's wife. They talked and the woman said Mary was her sister and she talked about where doors had beenin the old house and about the porch. The women had 2 children with her, young children, Leta thinks they were children of a different marriage, if it was Ruth, the year was after 1970. They may have been from CA.
