    Notes:
    John Curtiss moved to Newark, Essex County, New Jersey when he became of age.
    In 1667 he was the proprietor of the town of Newark. He represented Newark at
    the general court from 1683-1688 as an assessor and commissioner for Essex
    County. He also served as a Justice of the Peace
