    Mrs. Main is a graduate of Brookfield High School. She taught schoolfor a number of terms in New York State, then, after fitting herself forspecial work, she went to Fremont, Nebraska, where she taughtsuccessfully for two years. She entered the Civil Service at this time,receiving a very flattering position at once. She showed so much tact inthe work that she was promoted rapidly till she received as high a salaryas any lady employee in the ranks. She held this position for a number ofterms, till failing health compelled her to return to ther native State.She received from the Teachers' Training-Class of Alfred University, NY,in 1902, a life certificate, and taught in New York State again till hermarriage to Mr. Main, in 1905. She is a ready writer of prose as well aspoetry, and a member of the Serveth-Day Baptist Church at Leonardsville,NY.
