Grandad lived with his daughter Temperance in Phoenix until she diedin 1968. He moved to Alburquerque, New Mexico and lived with his grandsonRichard Porter. In 1974, prior to his death, Perry lived in a nursinghome in Alburquerque, NM.
Grampa was a jack-of-all-trades. He was a farmer, trapper, miner,horse trainer, and other things. In his seventies he was still plowinghis fields on his Missouri farm. He outlived his three wives and his onlychild.
After grandma Ethel died he moved to Lanagan, Missouri and lived ina cabin close to Glenn and Temperance. Later he married ElizabethBennett, a widow with a daughter, Josephine Bennett and a granddaughterEmma Jane Wallace. Emma Jane's mother had died and her grandmother wasraising her. After the death of Elizabeth, grampa married her sisterMinnie who was a widow.
My grandma, Ethel Marin (Hewitt) Main was 46 when she died. Whengrandpa met her she was a cook in a hotel. Grandpa said he saw her fromacross the street and said he knew then he would marry her.
