Christopher lived and died in the town of Ellisburg. He weighed about200 pounds and was avery stout man. He was taken prisoner by the Britishon Lake Ontario in the War of 1812.
ONe of Christopher's sons was born with a veil over his face.Christopher thought the boy could read the future, preserved the veil andgave it to him whe he became of age.
Christopher was completely carried away by "Morman Fever". He traded hisfarm for property in Nauvoo, ILL, and went thither, accompanied by hisson Joel and his daughter Lydia and son-in-law Nelson Van Wormer. On theway, he called on his brother Eliphalet, Monroe Co. NY. He was withdifficulty persuaded to over night, lest he should "die on unholyground". " He was so nervous about it, that he could not raise a cup ofwater to his lips with both hands without spilling a part" (James MadisonEdmunds). When Christopher reached Nauvoo, he found that he had beencheated in trading property. He was promptly cured of his delusion, cameback to Ellisburg, sued for and regained his farm, and was content tostay on it.
(Date on will says May 29, 1852, so Christopher died before that, and notin 1853?)
