Generation: 1
- Henry KAPUSTA b. 15 Sep 1879, Mielec, , , Poland; d. 10 Dec 1941, Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio, USA; bur. Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio, USA.
Notes:
Source for Henry Kapusta's family data is Luci Kluth.
NOTE:
1) Some deeds for this family are filed under KAPUSTUA.
2) Found a birth record for a male child born Oct 28, 1907 while the family was living at 1408 Redman. It is unclear who that child was.
According to Henry's petition for naturalization the family lived on
Redman Ave. in 1926... then according to Henry's death certificate the
family lived on Redman in 1941...
RESIDENCES:
1906 - 36 Redman Ave., Cleveland, Ohio (old style addressing)
1907 - 1408 Redman Ave., Cleveland, Ohio (new style addressing)
1908 - 1225 Redman Ave., Cleveland, Ohio
1911 - 1225 Redman Ave., Cleveland, Ohio
1924 - 1324 Redman Ave., Cleveland, OH. Purchased 1310 Redman in 1924 (as rental property?) and later sold it in the late 1940's. They also had a farm on Pettibone Rd in Geauga County (lived here prior to 1920). Kept the farm but moved to Brookview Blvd., Parma, OH. 1324 Redman is the address on his death certificate as his place of residence in 1941.
IMMIGRATION:
Arrived in NYC from Hamburg on the S.S. Victoria, 26 May 1900. Listed his residence in Poland as Rzochow which is just a few miles from Dobrynin where Ludwik's wife came from. On the Ellis Island website, there is a Heinrich Kapuosta listed as having arrived 14 May 1900 on the Graf Waldersee who lists his residence as Kielkow and whose destination was his brother, Anton, in New York. The village of Kielkow is the next one down the road from Rzochow, so either it is actually Henry or a very close relative.
MARRIAGE:
Cuyahoga County Marriage Records: Volume 0057 Page 0354 (copy in my possession)
The marriage record states that they were married by Rev. Victor Szyrocki but does not give the name of the church. Rev. Victor Szyrocki was on Kazimer Ave. in 1910, per the census. Under the occupation column it shows "Minister" and then "Sacred Heart Church". That's on the east side in the E.71st and Harvard vicinity. Sacred Heart Church on Krakow avenue confirmed that there was a Fr. Szyrocki as Pastor as early as 1903.
CENSUS:
1910 - Unknown.
Checked ED 18 for Bainbridge in Geauga County but Henry was not found there.
Checked New York -- not found.
If he arrived in the U.S. in the late 1890's he had to be living SOMEWHERE and at least a few of his children were already born by 1910 so should show up too.
CENSUS:
1920 - ED 265, Sheet 3B, Lines
Bainbridge, Geauga County, Ohio
Farm on West Road.
Listed as KAPUTA, Henry on the census sheet. Oddly, he is listed as German/Polish.
Arrived 1897 or 1899 (hard to read)
CENSUS:
1930 - ED 726, Sheet 15B, Lines 52-58,
Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio
1324 Redman Avenue
Listed as KUPUSTI, Henry on the census sheet.
Arrived 1900.

- 8. Louis KAPUSTA
Generation: 2
- Rudolph KAPUSTA
(1.Henry1) b. Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio, USA; d. Bef 1949.
Notes:
Henry's naturalization papers don't list Rudolph as one of the children living with him, however the obituary for Nora Ann states the Rudolph was her brother. His mother's obituary also mentions him. He is also not listed in either the 1920 or 1930 censuses as living with the rest of the family. Rudolph is also not mentioned in a 1945 property transfer when Henry dies and his 4 properties are distributed to Anna, Adolph, Natalie, Nora, Mildred, and Louis. Rudolph may have lived elsewhere or was deceased by that time. If he's the one shown below in the birth info derived from the SSDI records, then he was probably the only one married at the time and possibly had his own property, thus might not have inherited from his parents.
BIRTH:
SSDI records show a Rudolph Kapusta (278-09-2901) born 14 Feb 1904 and died Nov 1980 Struthers, Ohio 44471. If this is the same person, then 1904 seems like a reasonable birthdate, but it is earlier than the parent's marriage date. Luci Kluth did not have any data on Rudolph.
MARRIAGE:
Never married.
- Adolph J. KAPUSTA
(1.Henry1) b. 5 Feb 1906, Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio, USA; d. 19 Apr 1968, Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio, USA.
Notes:
The 1920 Census shows a son named Otto in the family. Was this really Adolph?
MARRIAGE:
Never married.
Several deeds mention Adolph, single, and Natalie G. Kapusta (and/or Kapustua), also single. She was born 28 Oct 1908. She died in January, 1977 but I can't find an obituary for her. Louis Kapusta was the executor of her will.
