According tothe 1875 Census of the Town of Benton, Yates County,
New York:
HENRY SNELL: age 39, head of household, born in Herkimer County, married,
laborer, native.
MARY SNELL: age 25, wife, bor n in Yates County, married.
CHARLES H. SNELL: age 8, son, born in Yates County , single.
LEONARD SNELL: age 6, son, born in Yates County.
EVA M. SNELL: age 4, daughter, born in Yates County.
HARRY M. SNELL: age 1 and 5/12, son, born i n Yates County.

The family might have resided on Jackson Street. They were family
number 238, they lived next door to Sylvester "Thomas" and Anna Griswo ld,
family number 239. Brother Edward and hismother Charity Griswold also
lived next door, family number 240. Albert andIda Griswold also lived
next door, family number 241. At this point I am notsure who Albert
is. He is not listed with the other family members in any ofthe New
York State census' s.

LEONARD SNELL: age 10, son, single, go ing to school.
HERBERT L. SNELL: age 4, son, single.
The family resided at 40 Jackson Street later renamed Linden Street.
Theylived next door to brother Sylvester "Thomas" and Anna Griswold at
number 42 Jackson Street. Brother E dward A . and Mary Griswold also
lived at 40 JacksonStreet.
