!He was a merchant in Hartford, of the firm of Phelps (Anson G.) & Olmsted. the firm was dissolved when Mr. Phelps moved to New York. Mr. Olmsted's health was such that he declined to accompany him. He was Major of the first Company Gov. Foot Guards, 1823 - 1826. He was one of the organizers, and for many yearsa Deacon at the 4th Congregational Church of Hartford.
