    WALTER G. HAMILTON, farmer; P.O. Milton; born in Alfred,Allegany Co., N.Y., June 24, 1833; son of Samuel and Hanna B.,who came to Rock Co. in the summer of 1843; in the fall of thesame year, settled in Harmony Township, Sec. 1, on sixtyacresof land. Samuel C. (father of W. G. H.) died July 15, 1865.Walter G. waseducated in the first schoolhouse ever built inMilton, finished his education at Milton University; taught oneterm in the West Milton District School. In 1861, was appointedPostmaster at Milton; served thirteen years; resigned in 1874,and took a trip to California for his health.
