28. Sarah-4 Pendleton (Caleb-3), was baptized 23 July 1693, atStonington, Conn.; we have no record of her death. She married SethLanphere, son of George Lanphere. He probably died about 1726, and shesurvived him as late as 4 June 1746, when she gave Benoni Smith a receiptfor her legacy in her father's will (Westerly C.& P. rec., iii, 330). Inthis will her father referred to her as "Being Weak and Low."
While only one of Sarah's children, Elizabeth, appears upon theWesterly vital records, the Council and Probate records of the towncontain the names of eight others who were bound out to various people asfollows, the first five whose ages are given appearing in the Book for1719-1731, at pages 163-4, under date of the 30th August 1725; whileElisha's age appears in the same book at page 234 -- record made 23February 1729/30.

i Aaron-5 (Lanphere), (b. 10 May 1709), "he being now 16 years oldon the 10 day of May last," was bound out to William Davis of Westerly tobe taught the trade of cooper.

iii. Mary, (b. 4 Oct, 1717), "she now being seven years old thefourth day of October last." was bound out to Nehemiah Mason ofStonington. On the 31st of March, 1735, he requested that the indenturehe had on Mary Lanphere be taken up and cancelled.

vii. Ann (b. 4 Aug. 1723), "two years old ye 4th of Aug., 1725," wasbound out to Joseph Coats of Stonington. The records of the First Churchthere show that "Anna, daughter of Seth Lanphere," was bapt. 1 Nov.,1741.

ix. Elisha (b. 25 Feby., 1727), "three years old 25th of Feby.,1729/30," was bound out to Samuel Hinckley, Jr., of Stonington. On the27th of April, 1730, "Ye child of Sarah Lanpheare and Seth Lanphearecalled Elisha Lanpheare: was bound out to Samuel Hinckley (C &P rec.,1719-1731), p. 227), and on the following 27th of Nov. he was bound outto Noah Grant of Stonington (C & P, ii, 50)
