    David (as he wasknown) was born in Alexander, ND. He moved to Campbell,
    Minn., Hunter ND, and Buttzville, ND, with his parents. He attended
    school in Hunter, ND and graduated for Lisbon High School, Lisbon ND. He
    graduated from the University of North Dakota where he was a member of
    the Sigma Nu fraternity.
    Phyllis wasborn in Bismack, ND and graduated from Bismarck High School.
    She attended the University of North Dakota and was a member of Delta
    Delta Delta sorority.
    David and Phyllis were married in Grand Forks, ND on Feb. 8, 1940. In
    theearly years of thier marriagethey lived in Bismarck, ND, Wilmington,
    Il., andMarion, Ohio, before settling in Minneapolis, Minn.
    David served in the Second World War from June 20, 1944 to April 1,
    1946. He was in the Medical Corpand was stationed in Ledo, Assam, India
    at the 20th General Hospital. he waslater stationed in calcutta, India,
    where he was with the Armed Forces Radio.
    After his return from the war, they moved to St. Louis Park, minn. where
    he was empolyed as a chemist and a statistician by Archer Daniels Midland
    Co.of Minneapolis.
    In August, 1953, David contracted polio and was hospitalized at the
    Sister Elizabeth Kenny Institute in Minneapolis until June, 1954. His
    throat and jaw muscles were paralyzed, and his legs and stomach muscles
    were affected. his throat muscles partially improved to the point where
    he could swallow, having been fed through a tube to his stomach for many
    months.Through hours of painful theray and grim determination, he
    improved to th? point where he could resume work and lead a comparatively
    normal life.
    Phylliswas active in the PTA, clubs, and church activities until David
    became ill.she then devoted full time to her family and home. As the
    childern became older, she worked on a part time basis for a wholesale
    warehouse company.
    David was an ardent sports fan and enjoyed the television sports
    broadcasts, anavid reader, and good bridge game was his favorite form
    of recreation.
    He died on Jan. 10, 1982 after a year long illness with cancer. He is
    buried atLakewood Cemetery in Rocky River, Ohio.
    Phyllis retired in 1984 and enjoyed her retirement years with bridge
    clubs, Women?s Club activities, and in the summer, her yard and flowers.
    She died on March 28, 1997 after suffering complications brought on by a
    stroke. She is buried at Lakewood Cemetery in Rocky River, Ohio.
