. He was baptized on 14 apr 1765 at First Church of Christ in N
ew London. He went to East Haddam, Cr from New London, and on 1
8 sep 1788 at the Millington Church in East Haddam, he married M
ary Spencer daughter of General Joseph Spencer and Hannah Brow
n (Hannah was the widow of Cap Daniel Southmayd) They lives we
lt of the millington Green Cemetery with the house (still santin
g) north of the road and a 40 acre frm to the south separated fr
om the cemetery by a brook. They had 11 children born in Millin
gton Ct. She died on 30 July 1825. He married second with Cath
erine Seymour on 24 nov 1829. They were in Auburn Cayuga Co N
Y in 1830 and Skaneateles, Onondaga Co, NY in 1840. He died o
n 7 aug1840 at Skaneatels NY she died on 23 sep 1865 at Skaneat
eles, NY and was buried in Lakeview Cemetery.

ace of residence was given as NY, her mother's as Ct. She is su
pposed to have been descended from a nephew of George Washington
, but so far have found no traces of this. It may be that her d
escent from Gen. Joseph Spencer got mixed up with this.

d in Ashaway, RI by 1877. He became a railroad engineer for th
e New York, New Haven and Hartford railroad for over 40 years
. They moved to Stonington Ct about 1878 andto New London by 1
900. He died in New London Ct on 30 june 1926, and she died the
re on 12 December 1951. Both are buried in Jordan Mutual Cemete
ry inWterford Ct. along with their adult children and their wiv
es. Louis was bured with his aunt in Elm Grove.
