seems that all other records I have found list him simply as William. The
James came from Madaline's DAR application.

Madaline's line gives us our MAYFLOWER lineage through the following
Mayflower Passengers, a total of six so far:
1) John ALDEN
2) MULLINS - Priscilla, and her parents William and Alice
The ALDEN - MULLINS line comes tous through the SOUTHWORTHS.
3) FULLER - Edward and his son Samuel who came onthe ship, and other son
Matthew, who came later. This line comes to us through the ROWLEY's (see
Ithamar Rowley, who is also one of 'our' Revolutionary War Veterans) and
it is a double line, secondly through Dimmis Gates's father Stephen
Gates, also a Rev. War Vet, who married Esther Fuller, a dau. of John
Fuller. I have just found the connection through these lines and have

produced the son who predeceased him. Idon't know this for sure. The son
could be of his marriage to Mary (Vonah) Collier (her 2nd).

New Lisbon - Death ofLifelong Resident
The death of Charles M. Southworth, one of the best known and
highly esteemed residents of this place, occurred at his home Wednesday
afternoon at 2 o'clock. Although he had been in failing health for a long
timewith heart trouble and complications, his last illness was of about
three weeks duration. - He was born in the town of New Lisbon July 22,
1868, a son of Robert E. (paper says 'E', someone has written an 'S' over
it in error) andAmanda (Garlick) Southworth. For fifty or more years he
has lived at the place where he died, and conducted a blacksmith shop. A
man of sterling integrity, always ready and willing to help where his
services were needed, he will be missed not only in his home circle but
in the community where he has so long resided, and where he has served
the public for so many years. On Sept. 12,1904, he was united in
marriage with Mary Vonah Collier, who survives him and who with her son,
Lewis Collier, have so tenderly and devotedly cared for him. Beside his
wife and step-son above mentioned, he leaves a brother, Clesson P.
Southworth, of South New Berlin; a niece, Mrs. Levi George, of New
Lisbon, and one nephew, Claude R. Southworth, of Yardley, Pa. and several
cousins. The funeral was largely attended at his late home Saturday
afternoon at 2o'clock. Rev. E. K. Hutchinson, rector of Zion Church at
Morris, of which thedeceased was a member, officiated. Interment was
beside his son and parentsin the old church cemetery at Morris. The
bearers were, Erle Smith, Frank Duroe, Ernest Thurston and George Rice.
The florel tributes given by the church, family and friends were
beautiful and bore evidence of the esteem in which the deceased was held.
A multitude of friends unite with the family in mourning his demise.
NOTE: as I do not have a complete genealogy as yet, I do not know whose
children Mrs. Levi George and Claude R. Southworth are.

Cause of Death: Pneumonia of one week's duration
Research and source notes: Deborah Sweet -
1) Obit from Martin SW Bible:
"Laurens, Jan. 31[Sunday] -Miss Louise Southworth, brief notice of
whose death was in Saturday's paper, died at the family home on Friday
evening at 8 o'clock, death being due to pneumonia, which developed a
week ago following an illness of flu and other complications since
January 10. The funeral services will be held on Monday with prayer
services at the home at 1 o'clock, and funeral services at the Methodist
Episcopal Church at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Norman B. Graves of Mt. Upton, a
former pastor here and an intimate friend of the family, will officiate.
Burial will be held in Laurens cemetery. The deceased was born January
18, 1903, at the home farm about three miles north of this village;
living there withher parents until five years ago, when they moved to
this village. Followingthe death of her mother (formerly Mrs. Mary
Strait Ainslee) soon after theirremoval to the village, she assumed the
duties of housekeeper in the home giving it her most careful attention.
Surviving her are her father, Charles Southworth, and one brother,
Frederick, 12 years of age; and to these two so badly bereft the sympathy
of the entire community is extended. The deceased wasmuch loved by all,
owing in great measure to her cheery optimism and every-ready smile,
always ready and willing to do anything in her power for any justcause:
and she will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends. She was a
member of the Methodist Episcopal church and Sunday school, being
secretary of the latter, and in both these whe will be missed as but few
Sundays found her absent. She was also a member of the Laurens W.C.T.U.
and of Laurens grange. A young woman of fine attainments and much
beloved, a wide circle of friends, while bowing in submission to the
father's will, will deeply regret her demise."

Also visited the home she had built at 428 Main St. Itis still there,
