In the Bible was the following obituary for Earl:
"Earl M. Southworth; Cooperstown - Funeral services for Earl M.
Southworth, 87, of 110 Chestnut Street, Cooperstown, will be at 2 p.m.,
Thursday, August 13, at the Ingalls Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael
C. Shyna, pastor of the Milford United Methodist Church, offficiating.
Burial will be in the Hartwick Cemetery. Mr. Southworth died Monday,
August 10, at the home of his nephew, John Silvernail, Wells Bridge. He
was born August 3, 1883 in Hartwick, son of Orin and Lydia (Converse)
Southworth. He married Julia E. Jacobs on July 1, 1913 in the Hartwick
Methodist Church. Mrs. Southworth died May 11, 1969. Mr. Southworth had
been a farmer in the area for manyyears, working on several of the large
farms. He retired about 25 years ago.He had lived in Wells Bridge for
about 17 years, returning to Cooperstown about six years ago. Surviving
is a daughter, Mrs. Walter (Ruth) Staffin, Cooperstown; a son, Raymond E.
Southworth, Cooperstown; one granddaughter, Mrs. John (Beth) Tuller,
Chula Vista, Calif.; a brother, Arthur Southworth, Binghamton, and
several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call after 1 p.m.
Wednesday. The family will be in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday."

"Cooperstown - Mrs. Ruth E. Staffin, 44, of 61Elm Street,
Cooperstown, died unexpectedly Mon., Oct. 11, following a heart attack.
Mrs. Staffin was born on Dec. 8, 1931 at Fork Shop [?], the daughter of
Earl and Julia (Jacobs) Southworth. She attended the Cooperstown Central
School and was married to Walter E. Staffin on Nov. 18, 1950 in
Cooperstown.She was employed by the J. J. Newberry Company in
Cooperstown for the past 16years, and was manager of the lunch counter
there for the past 10 years. Mrs. Staffin was a member of the United
Methodist Church of Cooperstown. She issurvived by her husband; one
daughter, Mrs. Glynn (Beth) Mock of Paradise, Calif.; two granddaughters;
one brother, Raymond E. Southworth, Cooperstown. Also surviving are
cousins and two uncles. Funeral services will be held on Sunday Oct. 17
at the Ingalls, Connell and Dow Funeral Home in Cooperstown at 3p.m. The
Rev. Harold J. Saxton, retired pastor of the United Methodist Churchwill
officiate. The family will be in attendance on Saturday evening, Oct. 16
from 7 to 9 p.m. and friends may call at their convenience. Burial will
be in the Hartwick Cemetery."
