At the time of the 1880 Federal Census, the family was living in Holmdel, Monmouth Co., N.J. (EDN 108, pg. 2). Henry W. Magee, 32, is listed as a merchant, living with his wife, Annie, 32, keeping house; daughter Frances A., 7, at school; and daughter Myrtle, 2. Also living with the family is John W. Hance, 21, store clerk (probably an employee). In the same house (different family #) is Maria Bennett, 63, dress maker.
