    Notes:
    He was educated at the U of Nebraska and Hillsdale College, graduating
    from the latter in 1883.

    He purchased an interest in the Charlevoix Journal and became one of its
    editors and proprieters.

    He moved to San Diego, CA, 1n 1887,and became the business and
    advertising manager of The Union-Tribune Publishing Co.

    He received an MS degree from Hillsdale College in 1886.

    a newspaper advertising manager living in a house he owned at 202 W Ivy
    St valued at $20,000. With him were his 2d wife, Grace, her sister and a
    maid.

    Listed asa newspaper business manager, age 39, with his wife, Esther,
    age 35, 2 sons, adaughter and a roomer
