A kid's life in the 1950's was uncomplicated but rich in activities. The neighborhood was filled with the sounds of kids playing games; in the street, in their yards, or at the playground.
Some of the games we played were:
Summer
- Tag
- Hide and go seek
- Marbles
- Hopscotch (there would always be some sidewalk with the traditional chalk numbered formation that would impel you to hop along)
- Rollerskating on the sidewalk
- Riding a bike
- Badminton
- Croquet
- Unorganized baseball
- Playing catch
- Jump rope
- Pretend playing (dolls, cowboys & indians, war, adventurers on an hike)
Winter
- Sled riding
- Building igloos
- Throwing snowballs
- Making snowmen
There were probably lots more I haven't even thought of yet. Do kids do any of this stuff anymore?
