History:
- Prior to 1850, the children of Brooklyn Centre could attend Brooklyn Academy. Parents were required to pay tuition so their children could receive an education.
- The wood schoolhouse was torn down and replaced by a brick building. An additional building was built in the early 1890's when Denison Elementary became a part of the Cleveland Public School System. At that point, the building contained 16 rooms.
