Edwin (aka Edward) was son of Ebenezer Foster Jr. and Almira William. His spouse was Electa M. Brainard, daughter of Asahel Brainard and Electa M. Avery.
Charles Gates is most likely the one married to Mary Ann Acker. They had a son named Howard who was probably the namesake of Howard St. (later known as West 17th st.)
